Vedhika had played the female lead in Kannada while in Tamil it has just been confirmed that it will be Ritika Singh of ‘Irudhi Suttru‘ fame. P.Vasu says, “I wanted someone new who hasn’t done this type of character. So far, only one film of Ritika’s has released, so she is still relatively a fresh face in Kollywood. I liked her in Irudhi Suttru. It did not feel like her first film. She is a National Award-winner, and the role in my film is a performance-oriented one, so I felt she would be right for it.

Ritika’s character will be as important as that of the hero’s in the film. She plays a bubbly girl who is a fan of horror films. The director has finalised the actress after a screen test, and he had only once a suggestion to give her, with respect to preparing for the role, “I told her Lawrence is a very good dancer and it is going to be a challenge for her to dance alongside him. So, I wanted her to concentrate on dancing to match up to him. She has promised me she would,” he reveals.
The film will be titled Shivalinga, and P Vasu’s son, Shakti will be seen playing a “key character”, which is that of a Muslim guy. Thaman has been signed on as the music director of the film, which starts rolling on July 14 in Bengaluru.
